Just a few months after moving to London and applying for a few jobs, a small advertising company reached out, and confirmed I was shortlisted for the second step of the interview process. Such step involved the making of a short video of about thirty seconds, using some software tools to directly capture in-game footage and, then, put it together to promote the game itself.
I was asked to create a video about Clash of Clans, the popular mobile game by Supercell, and pretend that the Barbarians – the very first unit obtained by the player – were about to be introduced with an update. My idea was to tell a simple story in just thirty seconds – a quiet village, about to be smashed and turned upside down by the incoming arrival of the Barbarians.
The video I made afterwards allowed me to move on to the second step of the interview process, standing out as one of the candidates, and being praised for the storytelling I managed to include in the video itself.
